SOPHIE FLEMING, M.SC. CCP

Sophie Fleming is a bilingual Compensation Consultant located in Barrie, Ontario.  Sophie has close to 15 years of consulting and corporate experience with companies in a wide range of industries, including manufacturing, financial services, municipal government, education, health care, retirement living, hospitality, consumer products, automotive, and utilities.  Her fields of expertise include job evaluation and Pay Equity, compensation program design and implementation, total compensation surveys, executive compensation, and short-term and long-term incentive plan design and implementation.

Sophie has experience working in the U.S.A. as a Compensation Consultant with Hay Group in Los Angeles for almost 5 years.  There, she consulted in the areas of job evaluation and compensation program design, executive compensation, and performance management to large and small organizations from various industries across the U.S.  Prior to this, Sophie worked as the Senior Manager, Compensation and Benefits for HSBC Bank Canada, with responsibilities including the development, implementation and administration of the compensation, benefit and retirement programs for approximately 6,000 executives and employees.  Sophie also has consulting experience with Watson Wyatt Worldwide, where she consulted to public and private sector companies from various industries across Canada, in the areas of strategic rewards, job evaluation, compensation surveys, executive compensation and performance management.  She also worked in Human Resources at UPS in Montreal.

Sophie holds a Bachelor's Degree in Industrial Relations from Laval University in Quebec City, as well as a Master’s Degree in Human Resources Management from University of Montreal in Montreal.  In addition, Sophie has earned her Certified Compensation Professional (CCP) designation in 1997.

Sophie has consulted to many clients in the U.S., including GIA, Kisco Senior Living, Kubota Tractors, Mattel, Newmont Mining, NUMMI, Red Bull North America, San Diego Community College District, Toyota, and World Vision International.

Sophie has also consulted to many clients in Canada, including the City of Calgary, CSR Cosmetic Solutions, Days Inn Barrie, Douglas College, Future Shop, Niagara Credit Union, SaskEnergy, SaskPower, Town of Collingwood, University of Regina, and University of Saskatchewan.

Sophie currently sits  on the Board of Directors for Business Enterprise Resource Network of Barrie – South Simcoe Inc., and is a member of the Government Affairs Committee for the Barrie District Chamber of Commerce.  She also belongs to the HRPAO and World@Work professional associations.
